The Iron County Farmers Market in Hurley, WI
Open from June to October, Wednesdays and Saturdays

We have come a long way since the humble beginnings of parking in a circle in a sand lot across the highway from our current location, and selling from your vehicle. Our covered, open-air market pavilion has an asphalt floor and features heavy wooden vendor tables. We are located on 10th Avenue North, on East side of U.S. Hwy. 51, along the Montreal River, which divides northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The market is handicapped accessible with plenty of parking available, and benches and picnic tables for sitting and enjoying all the sights and sounds of the market. There is a portable toilet on site.

We expect between 20 & 30 vendors for the season. Our tables will be loaded with the region's freshest, in-season fruits; including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, rhubarb, melons, and apples, plus homemade jams and jellies processed from locally grown fruits. Others sell maple syrup, honey, pickles, pickled beets, relishes, infused vinegars, and fresh herbs, like garlic, dill, cilantro, basil, oregano, parsley, and mint to name a few, plus herbal teas. Our farmers offer a large variety of fresh, locally grown vegetables; including lettuce, salad greens, spinach, swiss chard, tomatoes, radishes, asparagus, beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, sweet corn, cucumbers, eggplant, kohlrabi, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, turnips, Jerusalem artichokes, peas, peppers, potatoes, rutabagas, summer & winter squash, pie pumpkins, carving pumpkins, ornamental corn & more. We have meat vendors selling locally pasture raised beef, pork, and lamb by the cut, plus whole chickens, and a variety of sausages, bratwurst, and snack sticks. We have a few backyard chicken farmers with fresh chicken and duck eggs available. Our market also offers fresh baked bread, cookies, muffins, cakes, pies, and scones, including gluten free bakery.  Several local artisans sell their unique, hand-crafted products including hand-crafted brooms, shadowboxes, found object art, photography prints, woodworking, fabric & yarn crafts, blankets, quilts, rag rugs, raw wool, spun wool yarn, hand-crafted soaps and candles, jewelry, painted rocks, fresh flower bouquets and more.

Check out our market refreshment table where you'll find fresh brewed coffee, lemonade and single serve bakery items every Saturday morning and most Wednesday afternoons as a fundraiser. We will offer our Farmers Market Cookbook featuring recipes from past and present market vendors and customers for purchase for $15.

Be sure to view our perennial flower bed, added to the market grounds in 2016 by the Range Master Gardener Volunteers. It shows promise of a beautiful blooming garden this season. It was constructed around the base of our new market sign to help protect it, and to add beauty to our market. It's planted with deer resistant flowering plants to attract pollinators.

Each summer our market hosts several community activities including cultural food festivals, lost art demonstrations, and local musicians on several Saturdays.

Our Farm to Table Dinner Fundraiser will be held in August, with the time and place to be announced. The dinner will feature all locally grown food; including a choice of pork chops, pulled pork, or chicken, plus potatoes, sweet corn, fresh garden salad, bread, and fruit inspired desserts and beverage. Advance tickets will be available for purchase at the market this summer.

We offer a Free Make & Take Craft project every Saturday for kids. Let the kids create while you shop. Plus kids spring planting projects are hosted by Range Master Gardener Volunteers. Follow our Facebook page for all the details.
